Reassembly
REASSEMBLY1. Attached to the new plastic latch release button will be a new button spring; move it toward the outside as shown in the drawing to the right.
2. Insert the plastic latch release button onto the latch mechanism by inserting the button guides and springs into the plastic latch release button guides. Push in and toward the guides.
3. Once the plastic release button is installed on the button guides, push the release button in and attach the button spring onto the latch peg using the pocket blade screwdriver as shown below.
3a. After the plastic release button and button spring are installed, double check that all springs are properly installed. Insert the tongue plate into the buckle 3 or 4 times and yank on it each time to make sure it is operational. If it fails at any time, replace the entire buckle assembly as a unit. Go to BUCKLE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT.
4. Install the new top cover over the seat belt release button and mechanism. If the buckle you are working on DOES NOT have a printed circuit, go to step 7.
5. Carefully install the seat belt printed circuit on to the new lower buckle cover ensuring the locking tabs of the lower buckle cover securely hold the printed circuit in place.
6. After the printed circuit is secured, route the wires through the channels using the pocket blade screwdriver to help push the wire into the channel.
7. To install the lower cover onto the buckle assembly, slide the sliding switch on the printed circuit toward the front most position and while pushing the plastic release button in a little, insert the front end of the lower cover into the upper cover and snap them both together.
WARNING:
Ensure that the slot in the sliding switch on the lower cover fits over the peg on the underside of the latch mechanism.
