Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
Disconnecting Fuel Filter Hoses:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
- Relieve fuel pressure in fuel feed line.
- Negative cable at battery.
- Hoist car.
- Place fuel container under fuel filter.
- Inlet hose from fuel filter.
WARNING: A small amount of fuel may be released after fuel hose is disconnected. To reduce the chance of personal injury, cover hose and pipe to be disconnected with a shop cloth. Be sure to put that cloth in an approved container when disconnection is completed.
- Fuel filter outlet hose from fuel feed pipe.
- Fuel filter with outlet hose from body.
- Outlet hose and bracket from fuel filter.
Installing Filter Bracket:
INSTALL OR CONNECT
- Filter bracket to filter.
Be sure to align match marks on filter and bracket before tightening bracket screw.
- Outlet hose to fuel filter outlet pipe.
- Filter with outlet hose to body.
- Outlet and inlet hoses. Clamp hoses securely.
- Negative cable to battery.
- With engine "OFF" and ignition switch "ON", check for fuel leaks.
