NOTE:
SIDEKICK MODELS WITH 8-VALVE, 1.6 LITER ENGINES ARE NOT INCLUDED.
CONDITION:
Unstable idling, poor performance, and poor fuel economy.
CAUSE:
Spark plug high tension wires deteriorated.
CORRECTION:
Replace the old style spark plug high tension wire set with the new style.

Note:
1) 1994 2-door Sidekick, Federal Specification (E3) and 1995 2-door Sidekick, 2 wheel drive, Federal Specification (E3) are not involved. These vehicles are not equipped with the 16 valve, 1.6 liter engine.
2) California Specification (E33) vehicles may be found in California, New York, Massachusetts, and surrounding states.
Inspection Procedures:
1) Raise hood and secure with hood prop rod.
2) Look at the side of the spark plug boot top.
If one or more of the spark plug high tension wires are the old style, proceed to the Service Procedures.
Service Procedures:
1) Remove the spark plug wire high tension wire separator clamps.
2) Disconnect spark plug number 1 high tension wire by gripping its cap and spark plug boot.
3) Install spark plug number 1 high tension wire by inserting the cap portion fully into the distributor cap and the boot fully onto the spark plug.
4) Repeat for the remaining three (3) spark plug high tension wires.
5) Reinstall the spark plug wire high tension wire separator clamps.
6) Start engine and check for proper engine operation.
