Brakes and Traction Control: Service Precautions

WARNING:
Air Bag Hazard
For vehicles equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint Air Bag System:
^ Failure to follow precautions could result in unintended air bag deployment or could render the air bag inoperative. Either of these two conditions may result in severe injury.
^ Sensing and Diagnostic Manual (SDM) can maintain sufficient voltage to cause a deployment of air bags for up to 10 seconds after ignition switch is turned to "LOCK" position, battery is disconnected or fuse powering SDM is removed. Wait at least 10 seconds before starting work after disconnecting the battery or removing the SDM fuse
.

CAUTION:
Welding Hazard
There is to be no welding as it may result in extensive damage and weakening of the metal.

Fastener Replacement
All brake fasteners are important attaching parts in that they could affect the performance of vital parts and systems, and/or could result in major repair expense. They must be replaced with one of same part number or with an equivalent part if replacement becomes necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design.

Fastener Torque
Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to assure proper retention of all parts.
