Shift Linkage: Service and Repair

REMOVAL





1. Remove parking brake lower cover and console box.
2. Remove E-rings and clips from shift & select control cables.
3. Remove gear shift lever assembly.

INSTALLATION





Reverse removal procedure for installation and note as follows.
- Adjustment of shift cable.
With shift lever in NEUTRAL position, adjust shift cable adjusting nut so that distance "a" between edge of instrument panel and center of shift knob measured as shown.

NOTE: After shift cable adjustment, tighten lock nut securely.

Tightening Torque
(a): 6 Nm (0.6 kg.m, 4.5 ft. lbs.)
- Make sure that boots are installed correctly.
Distance "a": 137 mm (5.4 inch)





- Adjustment of select cable.
With shift lever in NEUTRAL position, adjust select cable adjusting nut so that front side end surface (A) of select arm and rear side line of rib (B) are aligned.

NOTE: After select cable adjustment, tighten lock nut securely.

Tightening Torque
(a): 6 Nm (0.6 kg.m, 4.5 ft. lbs.)
