Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection
ON-VEHICLE SERVICEA/T FLUID TEMP SENSOR INSPECTION
1. Lift up vehicle.
2. With engine is cool, remove drain plug and drain A/T fluid.
3. Install drain plug.
4. Disconnect oil cooler inlet hose (outlet from oil cooler) from pipe, and remove A/T fluid pipe (lower side).
5. Remove A/T side cover.
6. Disconnect wire harness at coupler of valve body.
7. Warm up A/T fluid temp. sensor. Check resistance between terminals of coupler at valve body. Thus make sure its resistance decrease with the increase of temperature. After inspection, connect coupler.
NOTE:
- Check to make sure that couplers are connected properly. (No.1 shift solenoid-white, No.2 shift solenoid-blue and lock-up control solenoid-yellow).
- There is an interchangeability between No.1 and No.2 shift solenoids for installation.
8. Wipe off and clean contacting surface between case and side cover.
9. Apply sealant to transmission case as shown.
"A": Sealant 99000-31160 (SUZUKI BOND NO.1216)
10. Tighten transmission side cover with bolts.
Tightening Torque:
(a): 18 Nm (1.8 kg-m, 13.0 lb-ft)
NOTE: Check to make sure that new bolts are used for bolts indicated as (1) in figure.
11. Install A/T fluid cooler hose and pipe, and tighten union bolt to specified torque.
Tightening Torque:
(a): 35 Nm (3.5 kg-m, 25.5 lb-ft)
(b): 18 Nm (1.8 kg-m, 13.0 lb-ft)
NOTE: Make sure to use new gaskets for A/T fluid pipe union bolts.
12. Refill A/T fluid.
13. Verify that there is no A/T fluid leakage.
