Oil Pan: Service and Repair






REMOVAL
1. Remove oil level gauge.
2. Raise vehicle.





3. Drain engine oil by removing drain plug.





4. Remove engine under covers.
5. Remove exhaust No.1 pipe.
6. Support engine and transmission with engine support jack.
7. Remove mounting member.
8. Remove clutch housing lower plate (M/T) or torque converter housing (A/T).





9. Remove oil pan and then oil pump strainer.

CLEANING
^ Clean mating surface of oil pan and cylinder block. Remove oil, old sealant, and dust from mating surfaces and oil pan inside.
^ Clean oil pump strainer screen.

INSTALLATION





1. Apply sealant to oil pan mating surface continuously as shown in figure.
"A": Sealant 99000-31150





2. Install 0-rings to oil pump strainer securely as shown in figure.
Tighten strainer bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque (a): 11 Nm (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 ft. lbs.)
3. After fitting oil pan to cylinder block, run in securing bolts and start tightening at the center: move wrench outward, tightening one bolt at a time.
Tighten bolts and nuts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque (b): 11 Nm (1.1 kg-m, 8.0 ft. lbs.)





4. Install gasket and drain plug to oil pan.
Tighten drain plug to specified torque.
Tightening Torque (a): 35 Nm (3.5 kg-m, 25.5 ft. lbs.)
5. Install torque converter housing (A/T) or clutch housing lower plate (M/T).





6. Install mounting member.
Tighten bolts and nuts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
(a): 55 Nm (5.5 kg-m, 40.0 ft. lbs.)
(b): 45 Nm (4.5 kg-m, 32.5 ft. lbs.)
7. Remove engine support jack.





8. Install exhaust No.1 pipe.
Tighten bolts and nuts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque (a): 50 Nm (5.0 kg-m, 36.5 ft. lbs.)

NOTE:
^ Tighten bolts and nuts marked (a) first.
^ Use now gasket for exhaust No.1 pipe.

9. Install engine under covers.
10. Install oil level gauge.
11. Refill engine with engine oil.
