Valve Body

DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove valve body assembly from transmission case.
2. Pull out manual valve.





3. Remove solenoids by removing bolts.





4. Remove 11 bolts from valve body front side.





5. Remove 5 bolts from valve body rear side.
6. Remove rear valve body gaskets and separator plate together with rear valve body.

NOTE: Never reuse gasket after removal.





7. Remove six balls, oil solenoid strainer and check valves and compression springs.





Spring Identifications





8. Remove check valve and compression spring from front valve body.





9. Remove following parts and springs by removing rear valve body cover bolts and key.
1. Rear valve body cover
2. Gasket
3. Plate
4. Forward clutch accumulator
5. Overdrive clutch accumulator
6. 2 - 3 timing valve
7. Coast clutch modulator
8. TCC control valve
9. 2nd and 4th brake accumulator
10. Reverse clutch accumulator
11. Solenoid modulator valve
12. Low coast modulator valve
13. 2nd and 4th brake modulator control valve
14. Secondary regulator valve





10. Remove following parts from front valve body by removing keys.
1. 2nd and 4th brake modulator
2. Accumulator control valve
3. Primary regulator valve
4. Key





11. Remove front valve body cover, cover gaskets and plate by removing 4 bolts.

NOTE: Never reuse used gasket.

12. Remove check valve, compression spring, three balls and oil solenoid strainers.





13. Remove following parts from front valve body by removing keys.
1. 1 - 2 shift valve
2. 2 - 3 shift valve
3. 3 - 4 shift valve
4. TCC modulator valve
5. Key





COMPRESSION SPRING IDENTIFICATIONS

ASSEMBLY





1. Install valves and compression springs to torque convertor side of front valve body.

NOTE: To identify correct spring or valve, refer to compression spring identification.

2. Place check balls, check valve, compression spring and oil solenoid strainers.





3. Install gaskets, plate, and from: valve body cover and tighten bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
Front valve body cover: 6.8 Nm (0.68 kg.m, 4.9 ft. lbs.)
4. Install valves and compression springs to rear cover side of front valve body.

NOTE: To identify correct spring or valve, refer to compression spring identification.





5. Install accumulator pistons, valves and compression springs to rear valve body.

NOTE:
- Don't reuse accumulator O-ring.
- To identify correct piston, valve or spring, refer to compression spring identification.

6. Place check balls and accumulator spring to rear valve body covers.





7. Install gaskets, plates and rear valve body covers with check balls and accumulator spring, and then tighten bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
Rear valve body cover: 10 Nm (1.0 kg.m, 7.5 ft. lbs.)





8. Place check balls, oil solenoid strainer, check valves and compression springs to rear valve body.





Check Valve Spring Identification





9. Place gaskets and plate on rear valve body.

NOTE: Place new gaskets and plate as shown in figure, that is, "A0" mark provided on plate faces to front valve body side.





10. Place check valve and compression spring to front valve body.





11. Install rear valve body with gaskets, plate and inner parts to front valve body and tighten bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
(a): 6.8 Nm (0.68 kg.m, 4.9 ft. lbs.)





12. Install solenoid valves to valve body and tighten bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
(a): 6.8 Nm (0.68 kg.m, 4.9 ft. lbs.)

NOTE:
- Don't reuse solenoid valve O-rings.
- No.1 shift solenoid valve and No.2 shift solenoid valve are interchangeable with each other.

13. Install manual shift valve to valve body.
14. Install valve body assy. to transmission case.

NOTE: Don't reuse gaskets.
