Disassembly
Removal of Valve Housing1. Secure the steering gear in a vise.
2. Loosen the adjuster lock nut and adjusting plug.
3. Remove the two (2) power steering hydraulic pipes.
4. Remove the two (2) bolts fixing the valve housing to the steering shaft body.
5. Pull the valve housing out of the steering shaft body.
Note:
There may be a shim between the valve housing and the body.
6. Remove the valve assembly from the valve housing.
Note:
If it is hard to remove the valve assembly, a press may be used.
SPECIAL TOOL:

CAUTION:
Make sure that there is no damage on the seal rings of the valve assembly.

7. Remove the stub oil seal and bearing from the valve housing using the special tool "Pinion bearing remover & installer" and press.
SPECIAL TOOL:
09943-86010 Pinion bearing remover & installer
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the stub oil seal. Replace it with new part from the seal set.

8. Remove the retaining ring (C-ring) from the valve assembly, then remove the sleeve assembly.
CAUTION:
^ Ensure that there is no damage on the valve sleeve.
^ Do not reuse the retaining ring (C-ring).
Replace it with new part from the seal set.
9. Remove the pinion oil seal and spacer.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse the pinion oil seal. Replace it with new part from the seal set.
