CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

Detecting Condition / Possible Cause:

DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE

WARNING:
- When performing a road test, select a place where there is no traffic or possibility of a traffic accident and be very careful during testing to avoid occurrence of an accident.
- Road test should be carried out with 2 persons, a driver and a tester, on a level road.

CAUTION: Be sure to perform steps in ENGINE DIAG. FLOW TABLE before proceeding to the following procedure to prevent the engine from being overheated.

1. Turn ignition switch OFF. Clear DTC with ignition switch ON, check vehicle and environmental condition for:
- Indicator of fuel level meter in combination meter: within 1/4 - 3/4
- Altitude (barometric pressure): 2400 m, 8000 ft or less (560 mmHg, 75 kPa or more)
- Ambient temp.: -10 °C, 14 °F or higher
- Intake airtemp.: 70 °C, 158 °F or lower

2. Start engine and increase vehicle speed to about 40 mph (60 kph ).
3. Reduce vehicle speed about 30 mph (50 kph ) and then increase it to about 40 mph (60 kph ) within about 1 minute. (under driving condition other than high-load, high-engine speed, rapid accelerating and decelerating)
4. Repeat above Step 3) for 29 minutes including stops at traffic lights. (Vehicle stop state must be within 1 minute.)
5. Stop vehicle (do not turn ignition switch OFF).
6. Check pending DTC in "PENDING DTC" mode and DTC in "DTC" mode.
