Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
1. Lift up vehicle.
2. With engine is cool, remove drain plug and drain A/T fluid.
3. Install drain plug.
4. Disconnect oil cooler inlet hose (outlet from oil cooler) from pipe, and remove A/T fluid pipe (lower side).
5. Remove A/T side cover.

6. Disconnect wire harness at coupler of valve body.

7. Warm up A/T fluid temp. sensor. Check resistance between terminals of coupler at valve body. Thus make sure its resistance decrease with the increase of temperature.
After inspection, connect coupler and install A/T fluid temp. sensor.
8. Wipe off and clean contacting surface between case and side cover.

9. Apply sealant to transmission case by using a nozzle as shown in figure by such amount that its selection is 1.5 mm (0.059 inch) in diameter.
"A": Sealant 99000-31160 (SUZUKI BOND NO. 1216)

10. Tighten transmission side cover with bolts.
Tightening Torque
(a): 18 Nm (1.8 kg-m, 13.0 ft. lbs.)

NOTE: Check to make sure that new bolts are used for bolts indicated as (1) in figure.

9. Install A/T fluid cooler hose and pipe, and tighten union bolt to specified torque.
Tightening Torque
(a): 35 Nm (3.5 kg-m, 25.5 ft. lbs.)
(b): 18 Nm (1.8 kg-m, 13.0 ft. lbs.)

NOTE: Make sure to use new gaskets for A/T fluid pipe union bolts.

10. Refill A/T fluid.
11. Verify that there is no A/T fluid leakage.
