On-Vehicle Inspection




1. Install manifold gauge set as shown.
2. Close Hi and Lo hand valves.
3. Run engine at fast idle.
4. Check compressor for following:
1. High pressure gauge reading is not low and low pressure gauge reading is not higher than normal.
2. Metallic sound.
3. Leakage from shaft seal.
If any of the above checks indicates a defect, repair compressor.




5. Check magnet clutch.
1. Inspect armature plate and rotor for signs of oil.
2. Check clutch bearings for noise and grease leakage.
3. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance of stator coil between clutch lead wire and ground at 20 °C (68 °F).
If measured resistance is not within tolerance, replace coil.

Standard resistance: 2.9 - 3.8 Ohms
