Removal and Installation

Sliding Roof

Removal

NOTE: If sliding roof is not positioned properly in relation with fully closed position of drive gear, it will not operate properly even though its functional parts are all in good condition. To ensure proper positioning, when removing drive gear assembly, be sure to close sliding roof completely before removal.

1. Remove sliding roof weatherstrip.
2. Remove roof lining referring to "Roof Lining Removal and Installation: Sedan" or "Roof Lining Removal and Installation: Wagon".




3. Remove sliding roof glass by removing bolts (torx) (1).

CAUTION: After removing sliding roof glass, do not turn ON sliding roof switch so as not to drive sliding roof drive gear assembly.

4. Disconnect drain hose.
5. Remove control relay and disconnect lead wire coupler of sliding roof drive gear assembly.




6. Remove sliding roof assembly.

Installation
1. Loosen sliding roof glass fixing screws (at 4 locations) and move sliding roof glass up and down 2 to 3 times. In this way, sliding roof glass can be positioned in both vertical and horizontal directions by elasticity of sliding roof weather strip.




2. Position sliding roof glass by such dimensions with respect to roof panel surface as specified.

Dimension (for SEDAN model)
"a": about 0.1 mm (0.004 in.)
"b": about 0.5 mm (0.020 in.)
"c": about 1.1 mm (0.043 in.)
"d": about 1.1 mm (0.043 in.)

Dimension (for WAGON model)
"a": about 0.9 mm (0.035 in.)
"b": about 0.3 mm (0.012 in.)
"c": about 1.6 mm (0.063 in.)
"d": about 1.6 mm (0.063 in.)

3. After installing all parts and adjusting properly, check sliding roof for proper operation (open, close and lock).
