RADIO STATIC NOISE OR NO RECEPTION ON AM BAND STATIONS

The failed part number has been corrected in the Warranty Claim Information.

CONDITION:
Static noise or no reception can be heard on AM band radio stations.

CAUSE:
Poor grounding connection due to paint in the Antenna Amplifier mounting bolt hole.

CORRECTION:
Remove the Antenna Amplifier mounting bolt and replace it with the new part number mounting bolt and clean the mounting hole threads. Follow the procedure described bellow.

NOTE:
Refer to TSB TS 01 11213 for electrical noise on the AM stations.





PART(S) INFORMATION





WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION

Repair procedure.





1. Lower the right rear seat back for clear access to the C-pillar trim.

2. Pull away the weather-stripping to the points indicated. This will allow enough finger access to pull the C-pillar trim away.

3. Carefully pull the C-pillar trim away.





4. With the C-pillar trim removed, you will see the Antenna Amplifier indicated by the arrow to the right.





5. Remove the mounting bolt indicated, using a 10 mm socket.





6. Pull the Antenna Amplifier away from the right rear pillar enough expose the threaded mounting hole.





7. Clean the threaded mounting hole by using a M6-1.0 mm thread tap.





8. Install the Antenna Amplifier and new mounting bolt pictured. Torque 2 Nm (18 lb-in.)

NOTE:
When reinstalling the Amplifier make sure the alignment pin is lined up with the alignment hole indicated. Refer to the picture in step 6.

9. Reinstall the C-pillar trim and weather-stripping.
