Seat Occupant Classification Module - Air Bag: Service and Repair

OCM Removal and Installation

WARNING:
- As Occupant Classification Module (OCM) consists of precision parts, be careful not to expose it excessive shock.
- Be sure to read Precautions on Service and Diagnosis of Air Bag System before starting to work and observe every precaution during work. Neglecting them may result in personal injury or inactivation of the air bag system when necessary.


NOTE: When OCM is replaced with a new one and the ignition switch is turn on, the AIR BAG warning lamp keeps on flashing. At this time, be sure to perform rezeroing of the passenger seat occupant classification system.

Removal
1. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
2. Disable air bag system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
3. Disconnect seat harness.
4. Remove passenger seat.
5. Remove passenger seat undercover.




6. Disconnect OCM connector (1) from OCM (2).
7. Using flat end rod or the like (3), remove OCM (2) from passenger seat.

Installation

Reference: OCM Inspection

1. Install OCM to passenger seat.
2. Connect OCM connector to OCM securely.
3. Install passenger seat undercover to passenger seat assembly.
4. Install passenger seat and tighten four mounting bolts with specified torque.
5. Connect negative cable at battery.
6. Enable air bag system. Refer to Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming.
7. Perform air bag system check.
8. Perform occupant classification system rezeroing Rezeroing.
