Engine Controls - Tooth Error Correction Learn Procedure

CONDITION:
TEC (Tooth Error Correction) Learn Procedure

CAUSE:
The TEC procedure is required to be completed if the ECM is reflashed, replaced or if the driveplate of the flywheel has been replaced. If the procedure is not completed the service engine light may illuminate and DTC (P0315 58X Crank Position Tooth Error Not Learned) may be present.

CORRECTION:
Follow the procedure outlined below. This procedure requires the Tech 2 scanner and software version 01.130.011 or later.





PART(S) INFORMATION





1. With transmission in park or neutral start the engine and allow it to warm up.

2. Connect the Tech 2 to the DLC and navigate to the "TEC Learn of CKP sensor". Follow the TEC path shown at the bottom of the screen to the right.

3. Allow the engine time to warm up to at least 149 degrees fahrenheit.

4. Press enter. Press enter again when prompted at the screen that says "Press ENTER To START".





5. The TEC screen will now look like the screen to the right before the TEC Learn is started.

6. In order to start the TEC Learn process push the "YES" button on the key pad. Note the YES = ON at the bottom left of the screen.

7. Once "YES" is pushed the TEC learn status will say "In Progress" at the right in the status location.

8. With the "TEC learn status" showing "In Progress", press the accelerator pedal down until the engine RPM increases to fuel cut off. (4,000+ RPM)

9. Continue to hold the pedal for 5 to 10 seconds. The engine RPM will rise and drop 2 to 3 times.

10. Release the pedal when the engine starts to surge past 4,000 RPM.





11. If the process passed, the TEC counter will show 2 to 3 counts and TEC learn status will say "Completed" As shown.

12. Turn the ignition switch off for ten seconds.

13. Turn the ignition switch on and clear DTC.
