Campaign KS - Inside Door Handle Replacement

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN "KS" INSIDE DOOR HANDLE REPLACEMENT

NOTE:
There may be VINS between the affected VIN numbers that are not included in this campaign. If the vehicle is in dealer inventory or the customer does not present the Owner Notification Letter; please check vehicle history on Suzuki Connect to verify if the VIN is affected or not.

CONDITION:
The non-chrome inside door handle may separate when pulled to open the door.

CAUSE:
The plastic material used may separate near the rubber damper. This only occurs on the non-chrome handles.

CORRECTION:
Dealers are to replace all four black plastic inside door handle with new part number handles on all affected in-stock and customer vehicles regardless of vehicle age mileage or date of visit. Please check under the engine hood at the core support for the red "KS" sticker or the vehicle warranty history to verify if the repair is already done. Please follow below instructions to replace all non-chrome inside door handles on affected vehicle.

PART(S) INFORMATION:

Front door handle replacement both sides





1. Remove the inner cover assembly by using a trim removal tool. Start by prying gently in the location indicated. Be careful to not scratch the paint. Disconnect electrical connector if necessary and set the cover aside.





2. Remove the four screws and one trim clip.





3. Remove the panel by pulling the bottom corners towards you. There are two anchoring clips holding the latch side and one holding on the hinge side.





4. As the panel is pulled toward you, the trim bezel around the inside door handle will release.





5. Set the trim bezel aside and lift the panel upward to clear the inside door lock plunger.





6. Disconnect any electrical connectors and set the panel aside.





7. Remove the tweeter by gripping the tweeter as shown and twisting from the bottom toward you. This will release the bottom of the tweeter first.





8. Disconnect the tweeter connector and set the tweeter aside. Then remove the screw indicated.





9. Release the rod end from the door handle. Move the anchor tab toward the handle. The anchor will slide off of the rod allowing the rod to be removed from the handle.





10. Slide handle slightly towards the front of the vehicle to release then pull the handle towards you away from the door.





11. Reverse the removal procedure to reinstall the door handle. Be sure all electrical connectors are re-connected. Re-install the handle bezel after the door panel has re-installed. Push the bezel in evenly to engage all of the anchors.





12 When re-installing the inner cover be sure to apply force over the mounting pins until a click is heard.

Rear Door Handle Replacement both sides





13. Remove the inner door garnish. Pry with your finger under the section toward the front of the vehicle.





14. Remove the two indicated screws.





15. Remove the door grip cover by inserting the tip of a flat screw driver into the indicated cut out point and gently prying the cover away from the handle.





16. Remove the two screws found under the cover.





17. Remove the trim panel by lifting from the bottom corners. Pull toward you until all of the anchors snap free. There are three anchoring clips on the latch side of the panel and two on the hinge side. The trim bezel around the door handle will release the same way as the front door panel.





18. Disconnect any electrical connectors and set the trim panel aside. Replace the door handle as described previously in the "Front door handle replacement instructions starting with step 7. Be sure all electrical connectors are connected before installing the panel.





19. After trim panel is re-installed, re-install the inner door garnish by applying force over the anchoring pins until a click is heard.





20. Write the dealer number on the "KS" sticker and install the "KS" sticker to the core support.
