Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Fuel Rail and Injectors Removal

WARNING: The fuel system is under pressure. To avoid fuel spillage and the risk of personal injury or fire, it is necessary to relieve the fuel system pressure before disconnecting the fuel lines.

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Service and Repair
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.





3. Disconnect the fuel feeding pipe from the fuel rail.





4. Remove the intake manifold.
5. Disconnect the fuel injector wiring harness connector.





6. Remove the fuel rail assembly.
7. Remove the fuel injector retainer clip.





8. Remove the fuel inject-by pulling then down and out.

Fuel Rail and Injectors Installation

CAUTION: Different injectors are calibrated for different flow rates. When ordering new fuel injectors, be certain to order the identical part number that is inscribed on the old infector.





1. Installation should follow the removal procedure in the reverse order.
2. Install the intake manifold.
Tighten the seven (7) intake manifold retaining bolts to 10 - 14 Nm (89 - 124 inch lbs.).
Tighten the four (4) intake manifold retaining nuts to 10 - 14 Nm (89 - 124 inch lbs.).
Tighten the two (2) bolts on the intake manifold support bracket to 10 - 14 Nm (89 - 124 inch lbs.).

NOTE: Install the intake manifold after installing the fuel rail.

CAUTION: Genuine intake manifold retaining bolts within the specifications should be used to prevent damaged intake manifold from impairing the airflow to the cylinder.
