Instrument Panel Removal and Installation

INSTRUMENT PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Removal
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the steering column trim cover.
3. Remove the A-pillar trim panels.
4. Remove the floor console.
5. Remove the sun sensor.
6. Remove the center molding and the audio systems. Refer to [Stereo Cassette AM / FM Radio Removal and Installation].





7. Remove the instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly.
8. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel.
9. Remove the instrument cluster.
10. Remove the glove box and the glove box housing.
11. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to [Driver's Side Knee Bolster Removal and Installation].
12. Remove the screws and the instrument panel side covers.
13. Remove the screw and the instrument panel fuse block.





14. Remove the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.
15. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.
16. Lower the steering column.





17. Remove bolts and screws.
18. Remove the connecting pieces.





19. Remove the bolt securing the middle of the instrument panel to the body.





20. Remove the instrument panel screws behind the glove box brace.





21. Remove the bolts securing the sides of the instrument panel to body.
22. Disconnect the instrument panel electrical connectors.
23. Remove the instrument panel.





Installation
1. Position the instrument panel in the vehicle.
2. Connect the instrument panel electrical connectors.
3. Install the bolts securing the sides of the instrument panel to the body.

Tighten: Tighten the instrument panel-to-body bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).





4. Install the instrument panel screws behind the glove box brace.





5. Install the bolt securing the middle of the instrument panel to the body.

Tighten: Tighten the instrument panel-to-body bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).





6. Install the connecting pieces with bolts and screws.

Tighten: Tighten the connecting pieces bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).





7. Raise the steering column.
8. Connect the steering column electrical connector.
9. Install the nuts and the bolts securing the steering column.

Tighten:
Tighten the steering column nuts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
Tighten the steering column bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).






10. Install the instrument panel fuse block with the screw.
11. Install the instrument panel side covers with the screws.





12. Install the knee bolster. Refer to [Driver's Side Knee Bolster Removal and Installation].
13. Install the glove box and the glove box housing.
14. Install the instrument cluster.
15. Install the instrument cluster trim panel.
16. Install the instrument cluster dimmer switch assembly.
17. Install the audio systems and the center molding. Refer to [Stereo Cassette AM / FM Radio Removal and Installation].
18. Install the sun sensor.
19. Install the floor console.
20. Install the A-pillar trim panels.
21. Install the steering column trim cover.
22. Connect the negative battery cable.
