Tire Monitor System - Warning Indicator Flashing
SX4Section Title: Control Systems
TSB No. TS 01 02087
Division: Automotive
Category: Technical
SUBJECT:
LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT FLASHING AT PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI) OR LATER DUE TO NON ACTIVATED SENSORS
MODEL(S):
SX4 (RW420)
YEAR:
2007~
CONDITION:
Low tire pressure warning light flashing at or after Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI)
CAUSE:
Tire pressure sensor activation required
CORRECTION:
There is a tire pressure sensor located at each valve stem of the wheels NOT including the spare. In order for the TPMS to function properly the sensors need to be activated. This activation is normally completed during PDI by using the Special Tool (09945-86510) and following the procedure described below
NOTE:
Be sure tire pressure is set to specification BEFORE activating the tire pressure sensors. Always use Tech 2 to read and check tire pressures after sensors are activated to ensure accuracy. Failure to do so will cause an incorrect warning light condition. If warning light remains on or is flashing after sensor activation is completed and tire pressures are correct, refer to diagnostic procedure in the Service Manual and TSB 5X4 Control Systems 02 XXXXX.
The TPMS sensors cannot be monitored or registered with the Tech 2 on this vehicle while the engine is running.
WARNING:
The tire pressure monitoring system alerts the driver when tire pressure becomes critically low. It is not a substitute for regular tire pressure inspections. Tire pressure should be checked at least monthly using a tire pressure gauge. Maintaining the recommended tire pressure can help avoid performance problems, tire damage and premature tire wear. See the owner's manual for additional details.
PART(S) INFORMATION:
ACTIVATION (WAKE-UP) PROCEDURE OF TPMS SENSORS
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
The low tire pressure warning light in the combination meter will flash continuously because the tire pressure sensors are deactivated.
2. Hold the TPMS test tool perpendicular to the tire wall next to the valve.
3. Press and release the button once to activate the tire pressure sensor.
When the tire pressure sensor is activated, flashing of the LED and beeping sound from the TPMS test tool indicate an activation of the pressure sensor.
4. Repeat step 1 and 2 to activate the other tire pressure sensors.
5. Confirm that the low tire pressure warning light goes OFF.
This warning light is turned OFF by the TPMS control module when all 4 of the tire pressure sensors (except spare tire) are activated.
