Rear Wheel Hub Assembly Removal and Installation (Rear Disc Brake Model)Removal
1. Hoist vehicle and remove rear wheel.
2. Pull up parking brake lever.
Uncaulk rear drive shaft nut (1) and then remove rear drive shaft nut (1) (4WD model).
3. Remove rear brake caliper assembly and rear brake disc.
4. Disconnect wheel speed sensor (1).
5. Remove brake dust cover (2) and rear wheel hub assembly (3) from rear axle.
6. Remove stud bolts from rear wheel hub assembly.
Installation
1. Install stud bolts to rear wheel hub assembly.
2. Install rear brake dust cover (1), rear wheel hub assembly (2) and then tighten new rear wheel hub bolts to specified torque.
CAUTION: Use new rear wheel hub bolts.
Tightening torque
Rear wheel hub bolt a: 73 Nm (7.3 kgf-m, 53.0 ft. lbs.)
3. Connect wheel speed sensor (3) and tighten wheel speed sensor bolt (2WD model) to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Wheel speed sensor bolt b: 11 Nm (1.1 kgf-m, 8.0 ft. lbs.)
4. Install rear brake disc and rear brake caliper assembly.
5. Pull up parking brake lever.
Install new rear drive shaft nut (1) to specified torque, and then caulk drive shaft nut (1) (4WD model).
CAUTION:
- Never reuse rear drive shaft nut.
- Be careful not to damage the rear drive shaft nut while caulking it. If it is damaged, replace it with new one.
Tightening torque
Drive shaft nut b: 175 Nm (17.5 kgf-m, 127.0 ft. lbs.)
6. Install wheel and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Wheel nut: 85 Nm (8.5 kgf-m, 61.5 ft. lbs.)
7. Upon completion of installation, perform brake test.
