CONDITION:

Power steering pump noise after pump and/or steering rack replacement, or P.S. fluid change.

CAUSE:

Incorrect power steering fluid used.

CORRECTION:

Please use the power steering fluid shown below or an equivalent.

NOTE:
DO NOT USE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) OF ANY TYPE IN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. ATF has friction modifiers designed for the clutches in an automatic transmission. These friction modifiers will make the steering harder to turn especially at slow driving speeds such as parking. Also ATF can cause the power steering pump to whine when the steering wheel is turned with the engine running.
