DTC C1033: Wheel Speed Sensor Deviation

Refer to Electronic Stability Program DTC C1021 / C1022 / C1025 / C1026 / C1031 / C1032 / C1035 / C1036: Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Failure / Range / Performance.

DTC Troubleshooting



1.
Was "Electronic Stability Program Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to Electronic Stability Program Check.

2. Check DTC for ESP(R)

Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC with ignition switch turned OFF.
Turn ignition switch ON and check DTC for ESP(R).

Is DTC C1021, C1022, C1025, C1026, C1031, C1032, C1035 and/or C1036 detected together?
YES
Go to DTC C1021 / C1022 / C1025 / C1026 / C1031 / C1032 / C1035 / C1036: Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit Failure / Range / Performance
and recheck.
NO
Go to Step 3.

3. Check tire condition

Check that tire pressure is specifications.

Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 3.
NO
Replace tire or adjust tire pressure and recheck.

4. Wheel speed sensor circuit check

Disconnect ESP(R) hydraulic unit / control module connector and all wheel speed sensor connectors with ignition switch turned OFF.
Check for proper connection to ESP(R) hydraulic unit / control module connector and terminals of wheel speed sensor.
If OK then check all wheel speed sensors circuit for open, short and high resistance.

Are wheel speed sensor circuits in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 5.
NO
Repair circuit and recheck.

5. Wheel speed sensor check

Inspection all wheel speed sensors referring to Front / Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Inspection Front / Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Inspection.

Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 6.
NO
Clean or replace.

6. Wheel speed sensor encoder check

Inspection all wheel speed sensor encoders referring to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Encoder On-Vehicle Inspection Front Wheel Speed Sensor Encoder On-Vehicle Inspection
and/or Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Encoder On-Vehicle Inspection Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Encoder On-Vehicle Inspection.

Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 7.
NO
Clean or replace wheel hub assembly.

7. Wheel speed sensor signal check

Inspection all wheel speed sensors referring to Front / Rear Wheel Speed Sensor On-Vehicle Inspection Front / Rear Wheel Speed Sensor On-Vehicle Inspection.

Are they in good condition?
YES
Substitute a known-good wheel hub assembly and recheck. If DTC detected, substitute a known-good ESP(R) hydraulic unit / control module and recheck.
NO
Replace wheel speed sensor and recheck.
