DTC Confirmation Procedure

P0842 / P0843

NOTE:

- If DTC other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.
- Check that the following conditions are satisfied when using this procedure.

- Battery voltage > 10.5 V
- CVT fluid temperature at engine start ≥ -20 °C (-4 °F)

1) Turn ignition switch to ON position for 10 sec.

DTC Troubleshooting



1.
Was "CVT System Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to CVT System Check.

2. Sensor power supply check

Turn off ignition switch and disconnect solenoid connector.
Check for proper terminal connection to solenoid connector.
If connections are OK, turn ignition switch to ON position.
Check that voltage between sensor power supply circuit (B1) and vehicle body ground is 5 V.

Is it in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 3.
NO
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

3. Primary pressure sensor signal circuit and ground circuit check

Turn off ignition switch and disconnect connectors from solenoid connector and TCM.
Check for proper terminal connection to solenoid connector and TCM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that primary pressure sensor signal circuit (A1) and sensor ground circuit (B2) are as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of primary pressure sensor signal circuit and sensor ground circuit is less than 1 ohms.
- Insulation resistance of primary pressure sensor signal circuit is infinity between solenoid connector and vehicle body ground.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between primary pressure sensor signal circuit terminal and each terminal at solenoid connector.
- Circuit voltage of primary pressure sensor signal circuit and sensor ground circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

4. Primary pressure sensor check

Connect solenoid connector and TCM connectors.
Check voltage between connector terminal "C10-11" and vehicle body ground. Inspection of TCM and Its Circuits

Is it in good condition?
YES
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck.
NO
Replace primary pressure sensor (CVT assembly).
