Transmission Control Module (TCM) Removal and Installation
NOTE:
- As the TCM consists of precision parts, the TCM will be damaged if it is exposed to an excessively large impact.
Handle the TCM carefully so as not to impact it.
- When the TCM is replaced with a TCM from another vehicle, failure to initialize the learned values in the replacement TCM can result in excessive shift shocks.
Always initialize the learned values when using a TCM from another vehicle. Programming and Relearning
Removal
1) Disconnect negative cable from battery.
2) Disable air bag system.
- Except advanced air bag model: Disabling Air Bag System
- Advanced air bag model: Disabling Air Bag System
3) Remove glove box.
4) Disconnect connectors from TCM (1).
5) Remove TCM.
Installation
Reverse removal procedure noting the following.
- Connect TCM connectors securely.
- Enable air bag system.
- Except advanced air bag model: Enabling Air Bag System
- Advanced air bag model: Enabling Air Bag System
- After replacing TCM, perform the Programming and Relearning TCM Learning Control Initialization.
