DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow:Advanced Air Bag.
2. Rear side-air bag circuit check
Remove applicable driver-side / passenger-side rear side-air bag (inflator) module. Referring to Removal and Installation Rear Side-Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Advanced Air Bag.
Check for proper connection to applicable rear side-air bag (inflator) module at terminal in connector "L260" or "L261".
If OK, then connect special tools (A), (B) and (C) to applicable rear side-air bag (inflator) connector "L260" or "L261".

Sedan model
Check SDM for DTC.
With ignition switch turned ON, is DTC B1231 or B1235 still indicated?
YES
Go to Step 3.
NO
Replace rear side-air bag (inflator) module referring to Rear Side-Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Advanced Air Bag.
3. Floor harness circuit check
With ignition switch turned OFF, disconnect special tools from applicable rear side-air bag (inflator) connector "L260" or "L261".
Disconnect SDM connector "L04".
Check for proper connection to SDM connector at terminal "L04-23" and "L04-24" (for DTC B1231) or terminal "L04-25" and "L04-26" (for DTC B1235).
If OK, release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
Measure resistance between "L04-24" and "L260-1" terminals, between "L04-23" and "L260-2" terminals (for DTC B1231).
Measure resistance between "L04-25" and "L261-1" terminals, between "L04-26" and "L261-2" terminals (for DTC B1235).
Hatchback model
Sedan model
Is each measured resistance 1ohms or less?
YES
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NO
DTC B1231: Repair high resistance or open wire in "PPL/WHT" or "PPL" circuit at floor harness.
DTC B1235: Repair high resistance or open wire in "BLU/RED" or "BLK/RED" circuit at floor harness.
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.
- Reconnect all air bag system components, ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs referring to DTC Clearance DTC Clearance:Advanced Air Bag
, if any.
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
