Wiring Diagram

Refer to P0449 DTC P0449.

System Description

Refer to EVAP Leak Check System Description EVAP Leak Check System Description.

DTC Confirmation Procedure

1) Turn ignition switch to ON position for 10 sec.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2. EVAP leak detection pump operation check

Check operating sound of EVAP leak detection pump referring to "EVAP Leak Detection Pump Circuit Check" under Testing and Inspection EVAP Leak Check Module Circuit Inspection.

Is operating sound heard?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
Go to Step 3.

3. Detection pump circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connectors from EVAP leak check module and ECM.
Check for proper terminal connection to EVAP leak check module and ECM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that EVAP leak detection pump drive circuit (C1) and ground circuit (C2) is as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of each EVAP leak detection pump drive circuit and ground circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Insulation resistance of EVAP leak detection pump drive circuit is infinity between EVAP leak check module connector and vehicle body ground.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between EVAP leak detection pump drive circuit terminal and each terminal at EVAP leak check module connector.
- Circuit voltage of EVAP leak detection pump drive circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Are they in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

4. EVAP leak detection pump check

Check EVAP leak detection pump for operation referring to "EVAP Leak Detection Pump Check" under Testing and Inspection EVAP Leak Check Module Circuit Inspection.

Is it in good condition?
YES
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO
Replace EVAP leak check module.
