Water Pump Removal and Installation

Removal

1) Disconnect negative (-) cable at battery.
2) Drain coolant. Cooling System Draining
3) Remove accessory drive belt. Removal and Installation
4) Remove front bumper. [1][2]Diagrams
5) Remove condenser cooling fan.

6) Remove oil level gauge and oil level gauge guide. Oil Pan and Oil Pump Strainer Removal and Installation
7) Remove exhaust manifold. Exhaust Manifold Removal and Installation
8) With hose connected, detach A/C compressor from cylinder block.

- Auto A/C model: Removal and Installation
9) Disconnect radiator outlet hose from water pump.
10) Remove inlet pipe (2) from water pump (1) and cylinder block.
11) Remove water pump (1) from cylinder block.






Installation

Water Pump Inspection

Reverse removal procedure for installation noting the following points.

- Use new gasket and O-ring.
- Install water pump assembly to cylinder block and tighten bolts to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Water pump bolt (a): 25 Nm (2.5 kgf-m, 18.5 lbf-ft)





- Refill cooling system. Cooling System Refilling
- Verify that there is no coolant leakage at each connection.
