Serial Data Link Circuit Check (No Communication to P/S Control Module)

Troubleshooting



1.
Was "EPS System Check" performed?
YES
Go to Step 2.
NO
Go to EPS System Check:Electric Type.

2. SUZUKI scan tool condition check

Make sure that SUZUKI scan tool is free from malfunction and that correct program card (software) for P/S system is used.
Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
Check proper connection of SUZUKI scan tool to DLC.

Is connection in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 3.
NO
Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC properly.

3. SUZUKI scan tool operation check

Check if communication is possible by making communication with other controllers (BCM, ABS/ESP(R) control module or SDM) or other vehicles.

Is it possible to communicate with the other controllers?
YES
Go to Step 4.
NO
Repair open in common section of serial data circuit used by all controllers or short to ground or power circuit which has occurred somewhere in serial data circuit.

4. P/S control module power supply and ground circuit check

Check power supply circuit and ground circuit for P/S control module referring to P/S Control Module Power Supply and Ground Circuit Check P/S Control Module Power Supply and Ground Circuit Check:Electric Type.

Is check result in good condition?
YES
Go to Step 5.
NO
Repair or replace defective circuit.

5. Serial communication circuit check

With ignition switch turned OFF, disconnect "E11" connector from P/S control module.
Check proper connection at serial data circuit terminal.
If OK, then check for high resistance, open or short to power circuit or ground in serial data circuit for P/S system.

Is check result in good condition?
YES
Substitute a known-good P/S control module and recheck.
NO
Repair serial data circuit for P/S system.
