DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow:Except Advanced Air Bag.

2. Passenger air bag 1st stage check

Remove passenger air bag (inflator) module referring to Removal and Installation Passenger Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Except Advanced Air Bag.
Check for proper connection to passenger air bag (inflator) module at terminals in "G259" connector.
If OK, then connect special tools (A), (B) and (C) to "G259" connector.

(B): 09932-75010

(C): 09932-78310





Check SDM for DTC.

With ignition switch turned ON, is DTC B1041 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Replace passenger air bag (inflator) module referring to Removal and Installation Passenger Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Except Advanced Air Bag.

3. Passenger air bag 1st stage circuit check

With ignition switch turned OFF, disconnect SDM connector "L04".
Check for proper connection to SDM connector at terminal "L04-5" and "L04-6".
If OK, release shorting bar in SDM connector by inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010

Measure resistance between "L04-5" and "G259-1" terminals.
Measure resistance between "L04-6" and "G259-2" terminals.






Is each measured resistance 1ohms or less?
YES -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NO -
Go to Step 4.

4. Floor harness circuit check

Disconnect "L399" connector located near the passenger side front pillar lower trim.
Check for proper connection to floor harness connector at terminal in "L399" connector.
If OK, release shorting bar in SDM connector by inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010

Measure resistance between "L04-5" and "L399-2" terminals.
Measure resistance between "L04-6" and "L399-1" terminals.






Is each measured resistance 1 ohms or less?
YES -
Repair high resistance or open wire in "BLU/RED" or "YEL/RED" circuit at instrument panel harness.
NO -
Repair high resistance or open wire in "BLU/RED" or "YEL/RED" circuit at floor harness.

NOTE:

Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.

- Reconnect all air bag system components and ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs referring to DTC Clearance DTC Clearance:Except Advanced Air Bag
, if any.
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Except Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
