DTC P0222 / P0223

DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area

Wiring Diagram

Refer to P0122 DTC P0122 / P0123.

DTC Confirmation Procedure

1) Turn ignition switch to ON position.
2) Keep accelerator pedal at fully depressed position for 2 sec.
3) Keep accelerator pedal at release position for 2 sec.
4) Repeat Step 2) through 3) for 3 times.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2. TP sensor power supply circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connector from throttle body assembly.
Check for proper terminal connection to throttle body assembly connector.
If connections are OK, turn ignition switch to ON position.
Check that voltage between TP sensor power supply circuit (C1) and ground circuit (C4) is 5 V.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Go to Step 3.

3. TP sensor power supply circuit check

Check that voltage between TP sensor power supply circuit (C1) and vehicle body ground is 5 V.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.
If this DTC is detected again, substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Go to Step 4.

4. TP sensor power supply circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connectors from ECM.
Check for proper terminal connection to ECM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that TP sensor power supply circuit (C1) is as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of TP sensor power supply circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Insulation resistance of TP sensor power supply circuit is infinity between throttle body assembly and vehicle body ground.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between TP sensor power supply terminal and each other terminal at throttle body assembly connector.
- Circuit voltage of TP sensor power supply circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

5. TP sensor (sub) signal circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connectors from ECM.
Check for proper terminal connection to ECM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that TP sensor (sub) signal circuit (C3) is as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of TP sensor (sub) signal circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Insulation resistance of TP sensor (sub) signal circuit is infinity between throttle body assembly and vehicle body ground.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between TP sensor (sub) signal terminal and each terminal at throttle body assembly connector.
- Circuit voltage of TP sensor (sub) signal circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

6. TP sensor check

Check TP sensor for performance. Testing and Inspection

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Replace throttle body assembly.
