DTC Confirmation Procedure

NOTE:

- If DTCs other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.
- Check that the following conditions are satisfied when using this procedure.

- -10 °C (14 °F) < ECT < 40 °C (104 °F)

- -10 °C (14 °F) < IAT < 40 °C (104 °F)

- BARO > 75 kPa (0.8 kgf/cm2, 10.8 psi, 0.75 bar)

1) Run engine at idle speed for 1 min.

Was "Engine Basic Inspection" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine Basic Inspection Engine Basic Inspection.

Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

3. DTC check

Is there DTC(s) other than P050A and P050B?
YES -
Go to applicable DTC(s).
NO -
Go to Step 4.

4. Air intake system check

Check air intake system for clogging and air inhabit.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.

5. PCV system check

Check PCV system parts or system.
- PCV valve: PCV Valve Inspection
- PCV hose: Testing and Inspection

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.

6. Exhaust system check

Check exhaust system. Testing and Inspection

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 7.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.

7. Throttle body assembly check

Check throttle body assembly.
- Throttle actuator: Testing and Inspection
- TP sensor: Testing and Inspection

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 8.
NO -
Replace throttle body assembly.

8. ECT sensor circuit and performance check

1) Check ECT sensor for circuit and performance according to Step 3 and 4 under P0116 DTC P0116 / P0125 / P0128.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 9.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts of wire harness.

9. Ignition system check

Check ignition system parts or system.
- Ignition system: Ignition System Check
- Ignition spark: Ignition Spark Test
- Ignition timing: Testing and Inspection

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 10.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.

10. EVAP system check

Check EVAP system parts or system. EVAP Canister Purge Inspection

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 11.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.

11. Engine mechanical system check

Check engine mechanical parts or system.
- Engine compression: Testing and Inspection
- Engine vacuum: Testing and Inspection
- Valve clearance: Service and Repair
- Valve timing: Timing Chain and Chain Tensioner Removal and Installation

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.
