Circuit Description

Engine start signal is sent from starting motor relay signal circuit (A1) while engine cranking.

DTC Confirmation Procedure

1) Run engine at idle speed for 5 min.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2.
Does starting motor operate?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Check starting motor and its circuit.
Starting motor: Starting Motor Inspection
Starting motor circuit: Testing and Inspection

3. Engine start signal check

Check that circuit voltage between start signal circuit (A1) of ECM connector and vehicle body ground.
- Ignition switch is at "START" position: 8 - 14 V
- Ignition switch is at other than "START" position: 0 - 1 V

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts or wire harness.
