DTC B1048: Passenger Air Bag (2nd Stage) Circuit Shorted to Power Supply

DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Flow:Advanced Air Bag.
2. Passenger air bag 2nd stage circuit check
Remove passenger air bag (inflator) module from instrument panel referring to Removal and Installation Passenger Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Advanced Air Bag.
Disconnect SDM connector "L04".
Check for proper connection to SDM connector at terminal "L04-17" and "L04-18".
Check for proper connection to passenger air bag (inflator) module at terminals in "G261" (black connector).
If OK, release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
With ignition switch turned ON, measure voltage between "L04-17" terminal and body ground, and between "L04-18" terminal and body ground.
Is each measured voltage 0 V?
YES -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NO -
Go to Step 3.
3. Floor harness circuit check
Disconnect "L403" connector located near the passenger side front pillar lower trim.
Check for proper connection to floor harness connector at terminal "L403-1" and "L403-2".
If OK, release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
With ignition switch turned ON, measure voltage between "L403-1" terminal and body ground, and between "L403-2" terminal and body ground.
Is each measured voltage 0 V?
YES -
Repair "ORN/BLU" circuit or "ORN/GRN" circuit for short to power supply circuit at instrument panel harness.
NO -
Repair "ORN/BLU" circuit or "ORN/GRN" circuit for short to power supply circuit at floor harness.
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.
- Reconnect all air bag system components and ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs referring to DTC Clearance DTC Clearance:Advanced Air Bag
, if any.
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
