DTC Confirmation Procedure
WARNING:
If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.
- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.
NOTE:
If DTCs other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.
1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Accelerate vehicle to 80 km/h (50 mile/h) or more.
DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.
2. DTC check
Check DTC.
Is there DTC(s) other than P0011 and P0012?
YES -
Go to applicable DTC(s).
NO -
Go to Step 3.
3. OCV drive circuit and OCV ground circuit check
Check OCV drive circuit and OCV ground circuit according to Step 2 under P0010 DTC P0010.
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.
4. Oil pressure check
Check oil pressure. Testing and Inspection
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.
5. OCV oil circuit visual check
Remove cylinder head cover. Cylinder Head Cover Removal and Installation
Check oil pressure leakage from OCV oil circuit.
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.
6. CKP sensor and sensor plate check
Check CKP sensor and sensor plate.
- CKP sensor inspection: Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Inspection
- Sensor plate inspection: Sensor Plate Inspection
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 7.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.
7. CMP sensor and signal rotor check
Check CMP sensor and signal rotor. Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Inspection
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 8.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.
8. OCV check
Remove OCV. OCV (Oil Control Valve) Removal and Installation
Check OCV for clogging or sludge.
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 9.
NO -
Repair or replace OCV.
9. OCV check
Check OCV. OCV (Oil Control Valve) Inspection
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 10.
NO -
Replace OCV.
10. CMP actuator check
Check CMP actuator. Camshaft and Tappet Inspection
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 11.
NO -
Replace CMP actuator.
11. Valve timing check
Check valve timing. Timing Chain and Chain Tensioner Removal and Installation
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Adjust valve timing.
