Wiring Diagram

DTC Confirmation Procedure

WARNING:

If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.

- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.

NOTE:

If DTCs other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.

1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Drive vehicle at 60 - 100 km/h (37 - 62 mile/h) for 1 min.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2. DTC check

Check DTC.

Is there DTC(s) other than P0101?
YES -
Go to applicable DTC(s).
NO -
Go to Step 3.

3. Exhaust system and air intake system check

Check exhaust system and air intake system for clogging or leak.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Repair or replace defective part.

4. MAF sensor power supply circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connector from MAF & IAT sensor.
Check for proper terminal connection to MAF & IAT sensor connector.
If connections are OK, turn ignition switch to ON position.
Check that voltage between MAF sensor power supply circuit (A1) and vehicle body ground is battery voltage.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

5. MAF sensor ground circuit check

Check that voltage between MAF sensor power supply circuit (A1) and MAF sensor ground circuit (A3) is battery voltage.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

6. MAF sensor signal circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connectors from ECM.
Check for proper terminal connection to ECM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that MAF sensor signal circuit (A2) is as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of MAF sensor signal circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Insulation resistance between MAF sensor signal circuit and vehicle body ground is infinity.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between MAF sensor signal circuit terminal and other terminal at MAF & IAT sensor connector.
- Circuit voltage of MAF sensor signal circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 7.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

7. MAF sensor check

Check MAF sensor. Inspection

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 8.
NO -
Replace MAF & IAT sensor.

8. Throttle body assembly check

Check throttle body for performance. Testing and Inspection

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Replace throttle body assembly.
