DTC P0111

DTC Detecting Condition and Trouble Area

Wiring Diagram

Refer to P0101 DTC P0101.

DTC Confirmation Procedure

WARNING:

If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.

- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.

NOTE:

- If DTCs other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.
- Check that the following condition is satisfied when using this procedure.

- ECT > 70 °C (158 °F)

1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Drive vehicle at 60 - 100 km/h (37 - 62 mile/h) for 10 min.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2. DTC check

Check DTC.

Is there DTC(s) other than P0111?
YES -
Go to applicable DTC(s).
NO -
Go to Step 3.

3. IAT sensor signal circuit and ground circuit check

Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connectors from MAF & IAT sensor and ECM.
Check for proper terminal connection to MAF & IAT sensor and ECM connectors.
If connections are OK, check that IAT sensor signal circuit (B1) and IAT sensor ground circuit (B2) are as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of each IAT sensor signal circuit and ground circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Insulation resistance of IAT sensor signal circuit is infinity between MAF & IAT sensor connector and vehicle body ground.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between IAT sensor signal circuit terminal and each terminal at MAF & IAT sensor connector.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between IAT sensor ground circuit terminal and each terminal at MAF & IAT sensor connector.
- Circuit voltage of each IAT sensor signal circuit and ground circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

4. IAT sensor check

Check IAT sensor. Inspection

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
Replace MAF & IAT sensor.
