DTC Confirmation Procedure

WARNING:

If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.

- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.

NOTE:

- If DTC other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.
- Check that the following conditions are satisfied when using this procedure.

- Battery voltage > 10.5 V
- CVT fluid temperature at engine start ≥ 10 °C (50 °F)

1) Drive vehicle more than 40 km/h (25 mile/h) for 40 sec.
2) Stop vehicle and turn ignition switch to OFF position.
3) Repeat Step 1) through 2) twice.
4) Turn ignition switch to ON position.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "CVT System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to CVT System Check CVT System Check.

2. DTC check of ECM

Check DTC of ECM. DTC Check

Is there any DTC(s)?
YES -
Go to troubleshooting for applicable DTC.
NO -
Go to Step 3.

3. Primary pulley speed sensor and its circuit check

Check primary pulley speed sensor and its circuit according to Step 3 through 4 of P0717 DTC P0717.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.

4. Lock-up / select switching solenoid valve and its circuits check

Check lock-up / select switching solenoid valve and its circuits according to Step 2 through 3 of P1810 DTC P1810.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.

5. TCC solenoid valve drive circuit check

Turn off ignition switch and disconnect TCM and solenoid connectors.
Check for proper terminal connection to TCM and solenoid connectors.
If connections are OK, check that TCC solenoid valve drive circuit (A2) is as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of TCC solenoid valve drive circuit is less than 1 ohms.
- Insulation resistance of TCC solenoid valve drive circuit is infinity between solenoid connector and vehicle body ground.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between TCC solenoid valve drive circuit terminal and each terminal at solenoid connector.
- Circuit voltage of TCC solenoid valve drive circuit 0 - 1 V with ignition switch ON position.

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.

6. TCC solenoid valve check

Check resistance of TCC solenoid valve. Testing and Inspection

Is it in good condition?
YES -
Substitute a known-good TCM and recheck.
NO -
Replace TCC solenoid valve (valve body assembly).
