EVAP Canister Purge System Inspection

1) Warm up engine to normal operating temperature.
2) Hoist vehicle so that all wheels rotate freely.






3) Set M/T in "Neutral" or CVT in "P" position and parking brake.
4) Remove engine cover. Air Cleaner Assembly Removal and Installation
5) Disconnect purge hose No.1 (1) from purge pipe No.1.
6) Place finger against the end of disconnected purge hose No.1 (1) and check that vacuum is not felt there when engine is running at idle speed.





7) If vehicle equipped with ESP(R) system, deactivate ESP(R) system by using SUZUKI scan tool. For details, refer to Precautions in Speedometer Test or Other Tests Precautions in Speedometer Test or Other Tests.

WARNING:
The front wheels rotate during the following steps and can cause injury.

Keep away from the front wheels when performing the following steps.

8) Release parking brake lever, set M/T in "1st" or CVT in "D".
9) Also check that vacuum is felt when engine speed is increased to higher than about 1,500 rpm. and keep it for 3 min. or more. If check result is not described in Steps 6) and 8), check EVAP canister purge valve, wire harness and vacuum passage.
