TITLE TORQUE CONVERTER MOUNTING BOLTS

Care should be taken when removing the torque converter mounting bolts so they are separated and not mixed with similar bolts. When installing an automatic transmission assembly (remanufactured, new or dealer rebuilds) it is CRITICAL that the application and installation of the correct Torque Converter Mounting Bolts be used when mounting the Torque Converter to the Flex Plate. Refer to Vol.10 Transmission & Clutch No.016 for the proper bolt length and part numbers by model.

Using an incorrect torque converter mounting bolt (too long) will dimple the lock-up surface of the torque converter. The damage will cause excessive pressure at the point of the dimple and contribute to premature wear to the lock-up clutch material.

Note: When replacing a transmission in which the fluid has become contaminated you must flush and clean all components including valve body, transmission cooler, and lines (refer to Service Bulletin Vol.10 Transmission and Clutch No.006) to purge the clutch material from the A/TM cooling system before operating the transmission.
