Subject: Warranty Claim History Over the TDN System
In response to dealers' requests, Toyota is pleased to announce that effective October 30, 1989, dealers will be able to request vehicle warranty claim history over the TDN System.

The following information will be available with the new system:

^ Repair Date
^ Repair Order Number
^ Repair Mileage
^ Original Part Number
^ Operation Code and Description
^ T-Codes

This information should be used as a tool to resolve repair concerns in the following manner:

^ Research vehicle history (using either dealer repair order files or warranty claim history) when customer advises of repeat repairs or prior repair attempt is suspected. Dealer determines whether further repair assistance is required.

^ Contact Technical Assistance "800" number or regional technical personnel as required if assistance in resolving situation is required.

To access the warranty claim history for a vehicle, the Date-of-First-Use/SSC Inquiry option should be selected. Instructions for submitting a DFU/SSC Inquiry are contained in Section 8 of the 1990 Toyota Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual. With this addition to the DFU/SSC Inquiry option dealers will no longer be required to request SSC information. SSC information will be supplied automatically with each DFU inquiry.

Ten (10) vehicles may be flagged per transmission for warranty claim history by placing a "Y" in the SSC information field.

When a response is received and "yes" is flagged for warranty history, press the "enter" key and this will move you to the screens containing warranty claim history. Attached are instructions for report interpretation.

Should you have any questions please contact the Dealer "800" Warranty Assistance Line.
