TITLE 1983 PIO CLOCK TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE


This bulletin has been prepared to assist you in diagnosing an inoperative or abnormal condition on the 1983 RN/LN digital clock (PIO installed item).

NOTE: Do not replace the clock until after you have verified that all electrical connections are correct by following the procedures below.


Symptom Procedure


^ No clock display when the ignition 1. Check the cigarette lighter fuse is turned on. (15A) in the fuse box.

2. Check the heater circuit breaker (20A) in the fuse box.

3. Check that the red clock wire is connected to the light blue with white stripe, constant 12 V heater blower motor wire located at the right corner of the heater relay connector.

4. Check that the orange clock wire is connected to the red with green stripe ignition wire. This wire is easily identified by its metal round coupler encapsulated by a clear plastic insulator.

5. Check that the green clock wire is connected to the white with black stripe cigarette lighter wire. This wire is easily identified by its single plastic connector.

6. Check that all connectors are connected and making good contact. In the event the display still does not light up, replace with a new clock.

Symptom Procedure


^ Display lights but clock resets 1. Check that the orange clock wire when ignition is turned off and is connected to an ignition switch
on. source. (See item #4 on previous

page.)

2. Check that the red clock wire is connected to a constant 12 V source. (See item #3 on previous page.)

^ Display will not dim when dash 1. Check to see that the dash light lights are on. dimmer is not turned all the way
off.

2. Check that the blue clock wire is connected to the heater control dash light wire. The heater control dash light wire is the wire closest to the lock tab on the double grey connector.
