W/22R-TE Engine

1. Remove hood, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove engine under cover attaching screws, then the cover.
3. Drain coolant from radiator and engine block, then remove radiator.
4. On automatic transmission models, drain fluid from transmission.
5. Remove air cleaner assembly from engine.
6. Remove fan assembly from engine.
7. Disconnect and plug heater hoses.
8. Disconnect accelerator and throttle cables.
9. Disconnect and mark all electrical connectors and vacuum hoses from engine.
10. Remove throttle body.
11. Remove power steering pump, if equipped and position aside. Do not disconnect power steering pump lines.
12. Remove A/C compressor from bracket, if equipped. Do not disconnect refrigerant lines.
13. Disconnect ground straps from rear engine mounts.
14. On manual transmission models, remove transmission shift lever.
15. Raise and support vehicle.
16. Disconnect front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
17. On manual transmission models, remove clutch release cylinder and bracket assembly from transmission.
18. Remove engine mount bolts.
19. Remove intermediate shaft from transmission. Insert tool No. 09325-20010 into transmission output shaft to prevent fluid leakage.
20. On automatic transmission models, disconnect shift linkage from shift lever.
21. Disconnect speedometer cable from transmission.
22. Support transmission using a suitable jack with block of wood placed between jack lifting pad and transmission fluid pan.
23. Remove rear engine mounting bracket.
24. Install suitable engine lifting equipment onto engine.
25. Remove engine and transmission assembly from vehicle.
26. Reverse procedure to install. Torque rear engine mount bolts to 19 ft. lbs. Torque mounting bracket bolts to 9 ft. lbs.
