Ignition System: Description and Operation

2S-E, 3A-C, 3E, 3Y-EC, 4A-C, & 4Y-EC ENGINES

On these models, the igniter assembly and the ignition coil have been combined into the distributor to form an integral assembly. The fully integrated assembly, which mounts an open type ignition coil in the distributor cap, is referred to as IIA ignition. The IIA ignition system operates in a manner similar to the system used on 22R engines.
