Warranty - Vehicles Originating Outside the USA

NO. 85-08
DATE March 26, 1985
REF.
SUBJECT: WARRANY REGISTRATION - VEHICLES ORIGINATING OUTSIDE THE

CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES

Vehicles purchased by dealers which were originally designated to be sold in markets outside the continental United States are not automatically entered in Toyota's warranty records at time of sale to a customer. Consequently, it is necessary that dealers use a specific procedure in order that Toyota can record this information in our warranty system.

For any sale involving a vehicle which was not distributed by TMS/USA, the dealer should submit a letter to the Region/Private Distributor Service Manager which contains the following information:

1. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

2. Date of Sale

3. Full Name and Address of the Customer

4. A Copy of the Vehicle Retail Sales Agreement

As noted above, this information is required for the sole purpose of maintaining accurate warranty records and to prevent unnecessary returns or denials of potential warranty claims submitted for reimbursement to Toyota on these vehicles. This procedure applies to vehicles which comply with FMVSS and emission regulations applicable to the continental United States.

Please contact your District Manager or District Service Manager if you have any questions concerning this matter.
