Ignition - Signal Generator Is Now A Separate Part

TITLE 22R-E, 2S-E, 4Y-E SIGNAL GENERATOR AVAILABLE AS A SEPARATE PART For improved serviceability, the signal generator is now available as a separate part. It is no longer necessary to replace the entire distributor assembly in the event of a signal generator failure.

NOTE: The distributor assembly is unchanged. The part number is included for reference only.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

The instructions below have been inserted in the box along with the signal generator to explain the replacement procedure.

N O T I C E

Replacement Procedure for Signal Generator Assembly



1. Disassemble the Integrated Ignition Assembly (IIA) from the housing.

2. Remove the two screws (painted white) and remove the signal generator assembly.

3. Install the new signal generator Into the housing and temporarily tighten it using the new screws in the parts kit.



4. Set the tooth of the signal rotor at a right angle to the pickup coil projection of the signal generator, and insert a feeler gauge (0.25 mm, 0.010") between the tooth of the signal rotor and the pickup coil projection.

5. Tighten the two screws while lightly pushing the pickup coil toward the signal rotor.

6. Remove the feeler gauge.



7. Check the gap between the signal rotor and pickup coil projection with a non-ferrous feeler gauge.
Air gap: 0.2 - 0.3 mm (0.008 - 0.012 inch)

8. Assemble the IIA.
