Ignition Timing: Adjustments
1. Remove the RH seat.2. Remove the engine service hole cover.
3. Connect a timing light to engine and disconnect and plug the vacuum hoses to the IIA diaphragms as shown.
4. Start the engine and let it idle. Idle should be no more than 950 rpm, adjust as necessary.
5. Slowly turn the IIA until the timing mark indicates 8° BTDC.
6. Tighten the lockdown bolt and ensure that timing is still at spec.
7. You can further check ignition timing as follows.
8. Reconnect the vacuum hoses to the IIA.
9. Check that timing advances to 20° - 18° BTDC at 950 rpm.
10. Remove timing light and install the engine service hole cover.
11. Install RH seat.
