TO: ALL REGION/PRIVATE DISTRIBUTOR GENERAL MANAGERS

SUBJECT: SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN - M01


Toyota will initiate a special service campaign to replace the fuel tank with an improved design on certain 1981-1990 Toyota Land Cruisers.

The following vital information is provided to inform you and your staff of the campaign schedule and your degree of involvement required:

1. Dealer, Owner Notification

^ Dealer notification package mailing date: June 28, 1991 (copy attached)

^ Owner notification letter mailing date: July 12, 1991 (Phase 1) Owner notifications will be sent in several phases to coincide with parts availability.

2. Number of Vehicles Involved in Your Region

^ Please refer to the enclosed SSC M01 summary report, by region/district/dealer. This list indicates the number of vehicles involved in this campaign in your region.

^ This list may be utilized by your staff for future follow up.

3. Parts Supply

The supply of parts for this special service campaign is critical. To avoid localized parts shortages the following controls will be implemented.

^ Owner notifications will be mailed in phases to coincide with parts availability.


^ Dealers will not order the customary 10% of U.I.O. as initial stock, it will be shipped to them automatically. This automatic shipping of initial quantities will be repeated for each phase of the owner notification. Should any dealers become overstocked due to this automatic allocation process, they will be notified at a certain point in the program of a one time opportunity to return the overstock.

^ All additional orders must be placed using the order form that is provided with the dealer information package.

Please review this entire special service campaign package with your staff and make sure that all appropriate personnel are completely familiar with its contents so that they may provide the necessary support to your dealers and maximize our combined customer satisfaction efforts.
