Air Injection: Testing and Inspection

PICKUP & 4RUNNER, EXC. CALIFORNIA

1. Inspect hoses and tubes for cracks, kinks, damage, or loose connections and repair or replace as necessary.
2. Disconnect air suction hose from air cleaner.
3. Ensure a bubbling noise is heard from air suction hose at idle.
4. Disconnect vacuum hose from reed valve.
5. Ensure a bubbling noise is not heard from air suction hose at idle.
6. Connect hoses to proper locations.




PICKUP & 4RUNNER, CALIFORNIA

1. Inspect hoses and tubes for cracks, kinks, damage or loose connections and repair or replace as necessary.
2. Disconnect air suction hose from EACV.
3. With coolant temperature below 43°F, ensure gurgling noise is not heard from EACV.
4. Run engine until coolant temperature is 64 - 111°F and ensure gurgling noise is heard at EACV with engine running above 1390 RPM.
5. Run engine until coolant temperature exceeds 131°F and ensure a gurgling noise is heard intermittently from EACV with engine speed above 1390 RPM.
6. Decrease engine speed to below 1000 RPM and ensure gurgling noise is heard from EACV.
7. Disconnect vacuum hose from vacuum switch with coolant temperature above 64°F and ensure gurgling noise is not heard from EACV.
