Lubricate
    Steering and Suspension
      Lubricate steering knuckle and chassis fittings.
    Drive/Propeller Shaft
      Grease daily if immersed in water. 4WD models. Lubricate grease fittings where available. Lubricate Lubricate slip joints. Tighten flange bolts. Grease daily if immersed in water.
Inspect/Adjust
    Valve Clearance
      Vehicle sold in California only. Check and adjust clearance if necessary.
    Drive Belt
      Check for cracks, wear and fluid contamination. Adjust tension if necessary.

    Drum Brake System
      Check fluid level. Inspect pedal freeplay. Inspect lines and hoses for wear, leaks and damage. Check drum brakes for wear and leaks. Inspect brake linings and drums.
    Disc Brake System
      Inspect brake pads and discs.
Tighten/Torque
    Body and Frame
      Inspect bolts and nuts on chassis and body, particularly the front and rear suspension member to cross body, the leaf spring u-bolts, the strut bar bracket to body, and seat installation bolts.

      Inspect gearbox for leakage.
    Steering
      Check linkages for wear and damage. Inspect boots for damage. Check steering knuckles for grease. Inspect steering linkage.
    Oxygen Sensor
      California only. Verify system operation.
    Fuel Supply Line
      Inspect fuel lines, hoses and connections. Check for leaks and damage.
    Exhaust System
      Check for cracks, corrosion and leakage. Check heat shields for debris.
    Evaporative Emission Control Canister
      California vehicles only.
    Brake Hose/Line
      Inspect lines and hoses for leaks or damage.
    Ball Joint
      Check ball joints for wear and inspect boots for damage. Inspect ball joints and dust boots for looseness, cracks and damage. Inspect ball joints and dust boots.
Replace
    Spark Plug
      Replace with correct type and gap according to manufacturers specification.
    Oil Filter, Engine
      Emission Warranty requirement for vehicles sold in California.
    Fuel Filler Cap
      Replace fuel filler cap gasket. Replace gasket. Check filler neck for damage.
    Fluid - Transfer Case
       Replace fluid and check for leaks.
    Fluid - Differential
       Replace fluid and check for leaks.
    Fluid - A/T
       1989 vehicles. Service fluid and filter. Check for leaks.
    Engine Oil
      Emission Warranty requirement for vehicles sold in California.
    Coolant
      Flush system, replace coolant. Check specific gravity for freezing point.
    Air Filter Element
Clean/Repack
    Wheel Bearing
      Clean and repack bearings. Inspect for damage or wear. Repack front wheel bearings and thrust bushing.
